Fear: How To Do It And Not Ruin Your Life

Fear: How To Do It And Not Ruin Your Life

Fear is one of the most dominant aspects of our lives. What might have, in the past, been predominantly an emotion is now a verb that is commonly enacted. And often, it is unnecessary.

We fear for so much. We fear that one day we will die. We fear that our jobs could go as, ‘the climate is unstable.’ Most of the time the things we fear about are fabrications; things that may or may not be true, or irrelevant concerns over the future. Of course there may be a chance that you could, at some point, lose your job. But why worry when you have no real indicator to stimulate this? And one day you will die, as we all will. You are not able to change that, so embrace it. Don’t let your fears hold you back and prevent you from venturing beyond the safe and known. Live. Live your life as you believe it should be lived. Take the things that you can be certain of and make good with the knowledge.

“How do I get rid of the fear?”

Alas, this is the wrong question.

The only way to get rid of the fear is to stop doing things that might not work, to stop putting yourself out there, to stop doing work that matters.

No, the right question is, “How do I dance with the fear?”

Fear is not the enemy. Paralysis is the enemy.

Fear is however, a natural part of our lives and our psyche. We fear that if we cross the road we may be killed, so to stay alive, we stay alert. Fear is not a bad thing, it keeps our hearts beating. Sometimes it even reminds us of why we are living. It’s how we use it that is potentially dangerous.

I fear you may not have fully grasped the magnitude of fear’s involvement in your life. Have a look at your relationship with fear, and decide if you want to stop worrying, and as the popular saying goes, ‘start living’.

If you do, that potential is a click away.
